New Projects for Turgutreis
Turgutreis Municipality has started a new set of projects under the name of “Modern Town Projects”. The projects are expected to be finished by 2009. Some of the projects include a new municipality building, a water purification plant and a solid waste plant.
Turgutreis Municipality plans to change the face of the town with the new projects. A new bus station, a shopping mall and a new municipality building will be constructed. The bazaar located in the centre of town will be demolished and a new shopping mall will be constructed with modern shops; including a 400 capacity car park. The bus station located at the entrance of Turgutreis will be demolished and a new municipality building will be constructed in its place. The new building will house a library, cultural center, movie theater, an exhibition and conference room. The new bus station will be constructed in the Kadıkale district.
The second phase will consist of building new water purification and solid waste plants for Turgutreis. This project will go hand in hand with other infrastructure improvements in the town. The final stage of the projects will be the construction of a promenade connecting Akyarlar to Turgutreis and totalling nearly 40 km. The total cost of the “Turgutreis Modernization Projects” will be around US 10 million dollars and is expected to be complete by 2009.
